Ther are so many new sans serifs on the market. They try to find there own meaning in a vast variety of modern forms. for a type designer it is essential to look back. The grotesque of the 19th century was always the basis for sans serif typefaces. The gap between the old grotesques that never managed to have a name to a modern clean sans serif was filled by Akzidenz Grotesk and later by Helvetica. American grotesques like News and Franklin to, but those were not as modern. The qualities of grotesque proportion is very strong. I think that is the reason why Akzidenz Grotesk was often used in swiss typography. There is plenty of space for a new interpretation. Gotina is my tribute to that.
It is very clean an has got an even stroke with not much contrast. Proportions are modern but not to boring.
Like in all my new character sets there are tabular figures and old style figures.
There is a set of functional and lifely ligatures
and a full set of cyrillic an greek.
