Valun

Valun is a tiny sleepy village in Croatia at the mediteranian sea. We spent a calm and relaxing holiday there and it insired me to this sans serif typeface. That does not mean that all the forms reflect that nice holiday, but being relaxed made me start to design it. Finally it is a humble classic grotesque. Quiet and easy to use. Yet destinctive self confident. Ranging from the extremly light Thin up to a deep black Ultrabold. 

As you might have found on this website, my Diploma thesis dealt with the italic type of the Renaissance. I therefore choose my italics very carefully. In Valun there are two different italics. the first one is a refined slanted italic that works perfect in a corporate environment. It does not change the athmosphere. The second one, called Humanic find its basis in classic text italics 15th to 17th century. 

Whenever you want a more expressive and highliteing italic, choose the Humanic.

You can also find upright small caps for every weight to serve all text needs

and a greek and cyrillic set of characters.

A tabular set of figures as well as a set of proportional old style figures for text serve most contemporary needs.

There are also some functional and aesthetic ligatures.
