Old Style for modern usage will never be really true to any historical basis. Because in the 15th century the technical and visual way type was used was totaly different. Mestra is very much based on different ideas of the Renaissance forms, but brings together different interpretations. You will not be able to tell, if there are mainly venetian or french influences. Ascenders and descender length is chosen very carfully to serve modern typesetting demands. The weights range from Light to deep black Ultrabold.
The Italic is strong an has a mind of it's own. In text a perfect companion to the roman.
In the standard set the main figures are tabular but with a proportional old style figure set as a feature.
